Why I Built An Education AI Toolkit

It feels like we’re all wandering into the collective unknown with AI. The technology is changing at a rapid pace and will have impacts on our communities, careers, and personal lives that we're still learning to understand. There is no textbook to tell us what happens next.

But when it comes to our children, that's no excuse to wait and see. This technology is in their lives, whether we like it or not. Our opinions may vary on the lasting impact of AI, but the present influences, opportunities, and dangers are real and must be addressed.

The answer is not to wait for the definitive resource that tells us what to do. We have incomplete information that changes every day. Instead, we need to start figuring out how we'll think about and manage AI with our children, at school and at home. We are building the use cases in real time. We are making the mistakes and finding what works.

The K-12 Practical AI Toolkit helps schools and communities protect and prepare students, staff, and families for a future with AI. This isn't a perfect or even complete guide. But we can't afford to hesitate. The risks are far too great to just wait and see.
